Madonna is set to release Veronica Electronica, a long-awaited companion to her 1998 album Ray of Light, on July 25, 2025. Originally conceived as a remix album, the project was shelved due to the overwhelming success of Ray of Light, which sold over 16 million copies worldwide and earned Madonna four Grammy Awards.
Veronica Electronica comprises eight tracks, including remixes by renowned producers such as William Orbit, Peter Rauhofer, Sasha, BT, and Victor Calderone. These remixes offer a fresh take on songs like “Frozen,” “Nothing Really Matters,” and “The Power of Good-Bye,” highlighting Madonna’s experimental foray into electronic music during the late 1990s.
A standout feature of the album is the previously unreleased demo “Gone, Gone, Gone,” produced with Rick Nowels during the original Ray of Light sessions. This track, long speculated upon by fans, provides insight into Madonna’s creative process during a transformative period in her career.
The album’s release is part of Madonna’s “Silver Collection,” a series of limited-edition silver vinyl reissues celebrating her extensive catalog. Fans can look forward to both digital and vinyl formats, with vinyl orders from Madonna.com and Rhino.com including an exclusive silver mylar lithograph.
In anticipation of the album, Madonna has released “Skin (The Collaboration Remix Edit),” offering a glimpse into the project’s sonic landscape. This track exemplifies the fusion of ambient, techno, and trance elements that characterized the Ray of Light era.
The title Veronica Electronica reflects an alter ego Madonna adopted during her spiritual and artistic exploration in the late 1990s. This persona symbolizes her embrace of electronic music and her departure from previous musical styles.
The album’s tracklist includes:
“Drowned World/Substitute For Love” – BT & Sasha Bucklodge Ashram New Edit
“Ray Of Light” – Sasha Twilo Mix Edit
“Skin” – The Collaboration Remix Edit
“Nothing Really Matters” – Club 69 Speed Mix Meets The Dub Side
“Sky Fits Heaven” – Victor Calderone Future New Edit
“Frozen” – Widescreen Mix and Drums
“The Power Of Good-Bye” – Fabien’s Good God Mix Edit
“Gone, Gone, Gone” – Original Demo Version
This release follows Madonna’s 2019 studio album Madame X and her 2022 remix compilation Finally Enough Love: 50 Number Ones, underscoring her enduring influence in the music industry.
The unveiling of Veronica Electronica coincides with other projects, including a Netflix miniseries chronicling Madonna’s life and career, produced by Shawn Levy. This series aims to provide an intimate look at the artist’s journey and creative evolution.
Madonna’s decision to release Veronica Electronica after more than two decades reflects her commitment to artistic expression and her desire to share previously unreleased work with her audience. This album offers fans a deeper understanding of the Ray of Light era and Madonna’s exploration of electronic music.
As the release date approaches, anticipation builds among fans eager to experience this long-lost chapter of Madonna’s discography. Veronica Electronica promises to be a significant addition to her body of work, celebrating a pivotal moment in her artistic journey.
Veronica Electronica will be available on July 25, 2025, in digital formats and as a limited-edition silver vinyl. Pre-orders are now open on Madonna.com and Rhino.com. This release invites listeners to revisit and reimagine the sounds that defined a transformative period in Madonna’s illustrious career.
