The Jaylen Brown issue with the Celtics is discussed by Bill Simmons and Kevin O’Connor.

The Celtics started 13-3 (and 18-4) the previous season, thus their current good start is appropriate. The success of the campaign will be determined by how they perform in the postseason. On Bill Simmons’ most recent podcast, he and Kevin O’Connor talked about the Celtics’ Jaylen Brown “problem.” It is quite disheartening to learn that Jaylen, while receiving superstar-level compensation, is only the team’s fifth most important player, according to Simmons. Jaylen’s lower output, according to O’Connor, is only a result of Kristaps Porzingis’ superior skill and efficiency. Porzingis should be receiving more attention than he is, says O’Connor. This season, if Jaylen’s offensive output is less needed by the club, Brown may always focus more of his emphasis on defence. Jaylen possesses the necessary athleticism to rank among the NBA’s best defensive players. That is solely his fault.
