Tennessee football has made its decision at quarterback, as Joey Aguilar has been named the Volunteers’ starting quarterback heading into the 2025 season.
The move was first reported by Fox Sports Knoxville and later confirmed by On3’s Pete Nakos, who noted that Aguilar had been “trending to be the Vols’ day one starter.”
Aguilar joined Tennessee this offseason after transferring from **UCLA**, where he spent two years following his standout career at **Appalachian State**. Known for his strong arm and poise in the pocket, he impressed the coaching staff throughout spring and summer workouts, ultimately earning the nod over the rest of the quarterback room.
With Aguilar under center, head coach Josh Heupel will look to maintain Tennessee’s fast-paced offensive attack as the Vols aim to compete in a challenging SEC slate this fall.
