Heze Kent, 4-star ATH and top-150 recruit, commits to Florida, Billy Napier

Florida football’s barrage of commitments continues to roll on.

Heze Kent — a 6-foot-6, 310-pound athlete who’s likely to play tight end at the college level — has committed to coach Billy Napier and the Gators, further bolstering their 2026 recruiting class.

The Brunswick, Georgia native is a four-star recruit who’s rated by 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 149 prospect nationally in his class.

Along with Florida, Kent had taken visits to Texas, Florida State and Miami. Beyond that group, he also held scholarship offers from Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, Notre Dame, LSU, Michigan, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas A&M, USC and Auburn, among others.

While he’s projected to play tight end for Florida, Kent also played offensive tackle last season for Brunswick High School. As a tight end, he had 983 receiving yards and eight touchdowns in 2024.

He becomes the Gators’ 18th commitment in the 2026 class, 17 of whom have given their verbal pledge since the start of June. He’s the eighth player in that group who’s rated as at least a four-star prospect and is the second tight end, joining three-star recruit Kekua Aumua, who committed in June.

Florida’s 2026 class is ranked by 247 as the 14th-best at the FBS level and the seventh-best in the SEC.

Though he is entering a potential do-or-die fourth season at the school, Napier helped guide the Gators to an 8-5 mark last season, the program’s most wins since 2020.
