Former Tennessee Vols RB could be looking for a new job in the NFL by the end of training camp

A former Tennessee Vols running back could be looking for a new gig in the NFL by the end of training camp later this summer.
The Athletic’s Dan Duggan thinks it could be “the end of the line” for former Tennessee running back Eric Gray with the New York Giants.
Tyrone Tracy and Devin Singletary are set to serve as the Giants’ top two running backs this fall. New York also selected Arizona State running back Cam Skattebo in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
From The Athletic: Gray has averaged 2.5 yards on 31 carries in his first two seasons. Add in six fumbles on 79 career touches, and it’s hard to imagine a worse start to the 2023 fifth-round pick’s career. Gray also failed to distinguish himself as a returner, which should lead to the end of the line for him in New York after the Skattebo addition.
Gray spent the first two seasons of his college career at Tennessee, rushing for 1,778 yards and 13 touchdowns during his two years on Rocky Top.
The Memphis native transferred to Oklahoma for his final two seasons. Gray rushed for 1,366 yards and 11 touchdowns during his final season with the Sooners.
It sounds like Gray will need a strong preseason to have any shot at sticking on the Giants’ 53-man roster.
