Was Florida football QB DJ Lagway banged up vs Texas? What he and Billy Napier said

Gainesville Sun

Florida football’s offensive momentum appeared sapped after its second drive vs. No. 7 Texas on Saturday, Oct. 4.

QB DJ Lagway entered the medical tent after the team’s second drive of the game. On the drive, he pulled up after rolling out for a pass.

After a brief stint in the tent, Lagway returned and played the rest of the game. However, coach Billy Napier said postgame that Lagway played like he did towards the end of last season. The QB injured his hamstring vs. Georgia. While he missed just one game, he was hampered and immobile.

“I thought he was kind of back in that mode,” Napier said.

The coach said “we’ll know more” about his leg injury.

Lagway, though, painted a more positive picture. He called the injury “just a little something that happened during a play.”

“Nothing too crazy. I’ve been here before, been in this situation,” Lagway said.

The QB confirmed that he felt good.

Kris Budden from ESPN reported that Lagway spent four minutes in the injury tent, took some pain medication and told the offense he was fine.

The sophomore dealt with injuries (core, shoulder, calf) all offseason, which prevented him from throwing in spring practice and for much of the offseason as a whole.

He finished the game with 298 passing (a career high in SEC play) and two touchdowns with one interception.
